Contractor role | One-Year Term
About 1DROP
1DROP is a nonprofit collective advancing community wealth-building and expanding homeownership opportunities for BIPOC-led and mission-aligned developers. As part of the Black Home Initiative (BHI), we are launching a new regional Land Campaign to identify, evaluate, and activate land opportunities that can support community-driven housing.
We are seeking an Acquisitions Manager to lead core components of this new initiative. Because this is a first-of-its-kind effort, the Acquisitions Manager will play a key role not only in running the campaign but also in designing, shaping, and improving the systems, tools, and approaches that will guide the model long-term. This is a one-year contract position with the opportunity to significantly influence how the Land Campaign evolves.
Job Summary
The Acquisitions Manager leads the intake and assessment of potential land opportunities and ensures each opportunity moves clearly and efficiently through the Land Campaign’s process. This position serves as a key bridge between landowners, community partners, and 1DROP’s internal team, helping shape the acquisition pipeline and contributing to the development of a more equitable land access model.
This role requires strong judgment, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to coordinate multiple workstreams in a dynamic and collaborative environment. Because the Land Campaign is new, the Acquisitions Manager will also help build and refine workflows, pilot new practices, and support system development throughout the year.

Review parcel information and summarize site characteristics, zoning context, ownership history, and potential pathways for development.
Prepare acquisition summaries and materials needed for internal review.
Participate in weekly discussions to determine readiness, challenges, and next steps for each opportunity.
Flag information gaps, risks, or opportunities that require deeper engagement.
Project Management & Coordination
Maintain the Land Campaign’s tracking systems and ensure all land opportunities are accurately documented.
Coordinate weekly meetings, prepare agendas, track action items, and follow up to keep work moving.
Maintain and update templates, shared documents, intake forms, and campaign materials.
Ensure strong communication flow between internal staff, community groups, and external partners.
Process Improvement & System Development
Identify opportunities to refine the intake, assessment, and coordination process.
Support the development of new tools, checklists, and workflows that make the Land Campaign more efficient and transparent.

Experience in land acquisition, housing, real estate, community development, planning, or related fields.

Experience engaging with community organizations, landowners, or public-facing roles.
Skills
Strong project management and organizational abilities.
Clear, confident communication with diverse partners and community members.
Comfort working with CRMs, spreadsheets, and parcel or mapping tools.
Ability to synthesize property information into clear and actionable summaries.
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Attributes
Equity-driven and committed to supporting BIPOC-led development.

Why This Role Matters
The Acquisitions Manager plays a crucial role in expanding access to land opportunities for BIPOC-led developers and community-serving housing. Because the Land Campaign is launching for the first time, this position is instrumental not only in executing the work, but also in designing and implementing the systems that will shape the next phase of the Land Clearinghouse. As a one-year contract role, the Acquisitions Manager will help set the foundation for a model that supports long-term community wealth and equitable development across the region.
