Grassroots Density: 1DROP Member Jerrel Jones Breaks Ground on 48th Street DADU

On August 20, 2026, community leaders, local partners, and 1DROP members gathered on Tacoma’s 48th Street to celebrate a major milestone in grassroots housing and wealth creation. Developer and General Contractor Jerrel Jones—founder of Credit Revolution Education and Grind Time Services—officially broke ground on a Detached Accessory Dwelling Unit (DADU), marking his third real estate project in three years.

By adding a high-quality DADU to an existing residential property, Jerrel is actively expanding housing availability and modeling a scalable blueprint for infill density in Tacoma.

Navigating the Path to Density and Ownership

Bringing a DADU project from concept to construction requires navigating complex local permitting, site logistics, and financing structures. Through persistence, hands-on general contracting, and mentorship within the 1DROP ecosystem, Jerrel navigated the municipal approval process to turn vision into site execution.

Key highlights of the 48th Street project include:

  • Grassroots Density: Utilizing Tacoma’s middle-housing framework to build a DADU, expanding housing supply on existing residential land.

  • Ecosystem Collaboration: Leveraging Community Reinvestment Program (CRP) capital alongside Black for Enterprise to drive equitable local development.

  • Replicable GC Playbook: Demonstrating how local, diverse general contractors can scale from property acquisition to active ground-up construction.

Building Legacy

For Jerrel, this groundbreaking represents far more than moving dirt—it is the physical proof of an extraordinary personal journey. After overcoming systemic barriers and starting with zero credit history, he dedicated himself to mastering financial literacy, purchasing his first home in just 15½ months.

Today, through Credit Revolution Education and Grind Time Services, Jerrel uses his own experience as a roadmap to help others build credit, navigate the financial system, and create tangible wealth.

As Jerrel shares in his personal movement narrative:

“I created Credit Revolution Education because I understand the struggle from the inside out... But I also know what it feels like to turn that around completely. And I know that if I could do it—from zero credit, from nothing—then you can too.”
— Jerrel Jones, Founder of Credit Revolution Education & 1DROP Member

Celebrating Purpose, Community, and Collective Effort

The ceremony reflected the deep network of support required to bring grassroots real estate development to life. The program featured remarks from community advocates, preferred lenders, and local partners who emphasized that real estate development is a powerful vehicle for long-term equity, representation, and neighborhood revitalization.

For 1DROP, Jerrel’s progress illustrates the core mission of supporting local leaders as they create pathways to general contracting, real estate ownership, and generational wealth.

We are proud to celebrate Jerrel Jones, Grind Time Services, Credit Revolution Education, and all partners involved in bringing this project to life. We look forward to following construction progress on 48th Street as Tacoma continues to lead the way in accessible, middle-housing development!
