Driving Solutions for Equity: 1DROP at the Washington Pro-Housing Forum

This past Tuesday, December 10th, Dominique Remy, Co-Founder of 1DROP, joined the “Housing Supply Solutions Panel” at the Washington Pro-Housing Forum by Up For Growth  to address critical housing challenges in the Seattle region. The event brought together policymakers, advocates, and industry leaders to discuss actionable strategies for increasing housing production, preserving affordability, and closing the racial homeownership gap.

Speaking on a panel focused on housing supply solutions, Dominique highlighted 1DROP’s mission to foster equity by empowering developers of color and building sustainable communities. “Representation in the built environment is critical to building equity and generational wealth,”

The forum’s agenda tackled three key areas:

1) Removing zoning barriers to boost housing production.

2) Resolving operational challenges in affordable housing.

3) Expanding access to homeownership for historically excluded communities.

These discussions underscored the importance of fostering collaboration across all levels of government and industry to effectively reverse housing underproduction trends. This coordinated approach is essential for addressing challenges and ensuring long-term affordability for communities.

Lt. Gov. Denny Heck interviewed by Mike Kingsella, CEO of Up For Growth.

Events like the Washington Pro-Housing Forum provide a platform for 1DROP to amplify its efforts in addressing inequities in housing and development.

Systemic challenges require systemic solutions, and only through partnerships across the public, private, and non-profit sector can we drive meaningful change
— Dominique Remy

The forum concluded with a call to action, urging participants to engage in advocacy and collaborative initiatives. 1DROP remains dedicated to fostering an inclusive housing ecosystem where equity and opportunity thrive.
