The BHI All Partners Summit brought together advocates, policymakers, and developers committed to addressing housing disparities in the Puget Sound region. The event provided a platform to discuss solutions, build connections, and strengthen collective efforts toward increasing Black homeownership.

Reggie Brown, 1DROP Co-Founder, described the gathering as a milestone moment: “We had people from all areas of housing, truly trying to make a difference.” The presence of such a broad range of stakeholders reflected the growing urgency to implement meaningful solutions to long-standing barriers in homeownership access.

A Unified Effort Toward Change

The summit’s agenda was rich with discussions and workshops. Attendees examined the four pillars of BHI’s 2025 Homeownership Policy Framework:

  • Zoning and regulatory reform

  • Cost reduction

  • Land acquisition and value capture

  • Funding

BHI Partners is also committed to the BHI Principles, which aim to redefine our approach and align our operations around a shared priority as our primary objective: Mission Before Organization, Trust Not Control, Humility Not Brand, and Build Constellations Not Stars.

The event was blessed to also have Mayor Payne from the City of Olympia and the new Director of the Department of Commerce, Joe Nguyen highlight the importance of the work of the Black Home Initiative and their own personal stories of the impact of homeownership on their families.

Don’t be an ally, be an accomplice. An accomplice won’t just walk behind you; they will walk beside you and risk everything for you.

- Mayor Victoria Woodards

1DROP’s Role in the Movement

For 1DROP, participation in the summit was an opportunity to deepen engagement with housing stakeholders and strengthen partnerships. The event facilitated new connections, with organizations eager to explore collaboration.

During their presentation, 1DROP Co-Founders Claude Rémy, Reggie Brown, and Dominique Rémy introduced the organization’s mission and impact, emphasizing the importance of supporting underrepresented developers. They highlighted how 1DROP provides mentorship, funding access, and policy advocacy to help BIPOC developers bring more housing projects to life. The presentation reinforced 1DROP’s role in bridging gaps in the housing ecosystem and driving long-term change.

This momentum reflects the broader recognition of the role that developers of color can play in reshaping the housing landscape. As discussions progressed, it became clear that amplifying these efforts through shared knowledge, policy advocacy, and resource alignment will be key in sustaining long-term impact.

Looking Ahead

The summit highlighted both the challenges and opportunities in advancing Black homeownership. As Kathi Littman, President and CEO of the Greater Tacoma Community Foundation, stated, “If people have housing and ownership, they will be invested in their communities.”

The conversations at BHI’s All Partners Summit reinforced the collective commitment to driving change. With a growing network of advocates and developers, the path forward is clearer than ever—one that prioritizes equity, opportunity, and sustainable housing solutions for generations to come.
